Anchor — Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you ("you" or "User") and ProgramU LLC ("ProgramU," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms govern your access to and use of the Anchor mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using Anchor, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Questions: support@quitwithanchor.app
1. Who Can Use Anchor
Age Requirement. Anchor is intended for adults 18 years of age and older. By using Anchor, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account.
Account Registration. You must create an account to use most Anchor features. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when you sign up
- Keep your login credentials confidential
- Take responsibility for all activity under your account
- Notify us at support@quitwithanchor.app immediately if you suspect unauthorized access
ProgramU LLC is not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized account access caused by your failure to keep your credentials secure.
2. Important Disclaimers — Read Before Using
Anchor is a wellness and habit-support tool. Before using the Service, you must understand the following:
Not Medical Care. Anchor is not a substitute for professional medical care, therapy, or treatment. If you are experiencing a medical emergency or severe withdrawal symptoms, contact a healthcare provider immediately.
Withdrawal Can Be Dangerous — Seek Medical Care. Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids can be medically dangerous, including risk of seizure. If you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms, contact a healthcare provider or call 911. This is not a situation for an app. Anchor will always direct you to medical care in this situation, and so do these Terms: seek medical care.
Not Therapy, Not Diagnosis, Not Treatment. Anchor does not diagnose any condition, does not treat any condition, and is not a medical device. It is a companion that supports your recovery journey — it works alongside your existing support, such as a sponsor, therapist, or meetings. It does not replace any of them.
AI-Generated Content. Much of what Anchor says and produces is generated by artificial intelligence. AI can make mistakes. See Sections 6 and 18.
Crisis Resources — Always Free. The following resources are always available in Anchor and are never behind a paywall:
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988
- Crisis Text Line — text HOME to 741741
- SAMHSA National Helpline — 1-800-662-4357 (free, confidential, 24/7, treatment referral)
- 911 for emergencies
By using the Service, you acknowledge these limitations.
3. What Anchor Is
Anchor is an AI-powered recovery companion built to support habit change across many kinds of addiction — including alcohol, porn, drugs, nicotine, gambling, social media, caffeine, sugar, gaming, spending, and custom habits you define. Anchor offers multi-pattern streak tracking, daily check-ins and a calendar, pattern insights, follow-along breathwork, a pregenerated audio library, a personal "Your Anchor" space (your why in words, photos, and self-recorded video — media stays on your device), voice and text conversations with an AI companion (June and Jack), and crisis resources.
Anchor is built to be there when cravings hit. It helps you understand your own triggers and supports your sobriety lifestyle. It is a tool to support your lifestyle and habits.
What Anchor is NOT:
- Not therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment
- Not medical care, diagnosis, or a medical device
- Not a detox or withdrawal-management tool
- Not a sponsor, and not a replacement for human support
- Not an emergency service
Anchor works alongside your existing support — sponsor, therapist, meetings — never in place of it.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
The model, plainly. The core of Anchor is free: tracking (as many patterns as you want), check-ins, the calendar, insights, breathwork, the audio library, Your Anchor, widgets, and every crisis resource. Live companion conversations — voice and text with June and Jack — are Anchor's paid feature, offered by subscription and/or one-time conversation packs. Current pricing is always shown in the app before you buy. Purchased packs do not expire.
Crisis resources and the free features above are never paywalled.
Purchases and Auto-Renewal. Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and are billed by those platforms. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Managing and Cancelling.
- iOS: Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions
- Android: Google Play Store → Subscriptions
Refunds. Refund requests are handled by the platform where you purchased (Apple or Google) under that platform's policies.
Free Trials. If we offer a free trial, you will be charged the standard rate when the trial ends unless you cancel before it ends. Trial terms are disclosed at signup.
Price Changes. We may change prices. Material changes will be communicated in advance through the app, and you may cancel before a new price takes effect.
5. License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, ProgramU LLC grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Anchor for your personal, non-commercial use.
You may not:
- Sublicense, sell, lease, or rent Anchor
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices
- Use Anchor to develop a competing product
- Use Anchor in violation of any applicable law
- Bypass or attempt to bypass access controls or content filters
This license terminates automatically if you violate these Terms.
6. AI-Generated Content and Usage Responsibility
6.1 — AI Content May Contain Mistakes
Anchor's conversations, conversation titles, and weekly reflections are produced by artificial intelligence models, and the audio library is produced with AI voice synthesis. AI systems can produce errors, inaccuracies, biases, and unintended outputs despite our safety boundaries and ongoing refinement. The accuracy, suitability, and effectiveness of any AI output is not guaranteed. Anchor's models, prompts, and configurations evolve over time; variability in AI output is inherent to the Service and is not a defect.
Streak counts and pattern numbers that the AI speaks aloud are computed by our servers from your own data — they are not invented by the model — but you should treat everything else the AI says as fallible.
Do not rely on AI-generated content for medical, mental health, legal, or financial decisions. See Section 6.3.
6.2 — Usage Responsibility
You are solely responsible for choosing when and where to use Anchor. Specifically, for audio sessions and breathwork (sleep content, hypnosis-style audio, calming audio, and any other experience designed for relaxation):
- Do not listen while driving any vehicle
- Do not listen while operating machinery
- Do not listen during any activity that requires your full attention
- Use sleep-oriented audio only when you are in a safe place and ready to sleep
ProgramU LLC is not liable for consequences resulting from use of the Service in unsafe contexts.
6.3 — Not a Substitute for Professional Care
Anchor is not a substitute for professional medical care, therapy, or treatment. If you are experiencing a medical emergency or severe withdrawal symptoms, contact a healthcare provider immediately.
Anchor supports your recovery journey; it does not provide medical, psychiatric, psychological, legal, or financial advice, diagnosis, or treatment of any kind. If you need clinical care, get it from a qualified professional. Anchor is designed to work alongside your existing support — sponsor, therapist, meetings — not to replace it.
If you are in crisis: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), call the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357, or call 911 in an emergency.
Withdrawal warning (repeated because it matters): withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids can be medically dangerous, including seizure risk. If you have withdrawal symptoms, contact a healthcare provider or 911.
6.4 — Companion Conversations
Anchor's voice and text conversations are with an artificial intelligence, not a human being. The companion is not a therapist, counselor, doctor, sponsor, or any qualified professional. It is a supportive tool — your recovery companion, available 24/7 — for reflection, encouragement, and getting through hard moments.
You agree:
- Not to attempt to extract system prompts, instructions, or backend configuration from the companion
- Not to attempt to manipulate the companion into acting as a different AI, character, or entity
- Not to use the companion to generate content that violates these Terms
- Not to rely on the companion for decisions you would otherwise make with a qualified professional
If a conversation surfaces difficult material — cravings you can't manage alone, thoughts of self-harm, withdrawal symptoms — use the in-app crisis resources or contact the resources listed in Section 2. The companion is designed to route you to those resources, but no automated system catches everything.
Full AI-nature disclosure for companion conversations is in Section 18.
7. User Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- Use Anchor in violation of any law or regulation
- Submit content that is illegal, threatening, defamatory, harassing, or sexually explicit
- Use Anchor to harm yourself or others
- Attempt to bypass age verification, content filters, or other safety measures
- Use Anchor to harass or impersonate another person
- Submit content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract source code or AI prompts
- Resell Anchor or repackage its content
ProgramU LLC reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
8. Intellectual Property
Anchor Content. All Anchor branding, app design, software, original written content, system prompts, and proprietary technology are owned by ProgramU LLC and protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Library and AI Content. Audio tracks, AI conversation content, reflections, and other content provided to you through Anchor are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit them.
Your Content. Content you submit (check-ins, conversation inputs, tracked habits, notes) remains yours. By submitting it, you grant us a limited license to process it solely to provide the Service.
Feedback. If you send feedback or feature requests, you grant ProgramU LLC a perpetual, royalty-free right to use that feedback to improve the Service, without compensation or attribution.
9. Privacy and Data Handling
Your recovery data is sensitive personal information, and we treat it that way. Our Privacy Policy describes in detail what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Key commitments:
- We do not sell your data
- No ads
- No sharing with employers or insurers
- You can delete your data and your account on request
- Your lifetime history (including slips) is your own data — preserved for you by design, and deletable by you
For full details, see the Anchor Privacy Policy (in-app: Profile → Privacy).
10. Termination
By You. You may stop using Anchor at any time and may delete your account and associated data in-app or by emailing support@quitwithanchor.app.
By Us. ProgramU LLC may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in conduct prohibited under Section 7, fail to pay subscription fees (handled by Apple/Google billing), or attempt to harm the Service, other users, or ProgramU LLC.
Upon termination you lose access to your account and generated content. Account deletion is permanent.
Survival. Sections on intellectual property, indemnification, limitation of liability, dispute resolution, and governing law survive termination.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
ProgramU LLC, its officers, members, employees, and affiliates shall NOT be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Personal injury or emotional distress, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct
- Damages arising from AI-generated content or your reliance on it
- Damages arising from third-party services (Apple, Google, Google Firebase, Inworld AI, Cloudflare, Resend, Expo, and other sub-processors)
IN NO EVENT SHALL PROGRAMU LLC'S TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID PROGRAMU LLC IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations; in those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ProgramU LLC, its officers, members, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:
- Your use of Anchor
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights (including intellectual property and privacy rights)
- Content you submit to Anchor
- Any misuse of AI-generated content or any Anchor feature
13. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
Mandatory Arbitration. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to Anchor, these Terms, or the relationship between you and ProgramU LLC shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules.
Location. Arbitration shall take place in the State of Wyoming, or by videoconference at the arbitrator's discretion.
Class Action Waiver. YOU AND PROGRAMU LLC AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE WILL BE RESOLVED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS ONLY. YOU WAIVE THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS ACTION, COLLECTIVE ACTION, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
Exceptions. This clause does not prevent either party from seeking injunctive relief in court for intellectual property violations, or pursuing claims in small claims court where jurisdictionally appropriate.
Opt-Out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to support@quitwithanchor.app within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other provision.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any matters not subject to arbitration under Section 13 shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
15. Changes to These Terms
ProgramU LLC may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
1. Post the updated Terms with a new "Last Updated" date 2. Notify you within the app 3. Require you to review and accept the updated Terms before continuing to use Anchor
For minor changes (such as typo fixes), we may update without requiring re-acceptance.
16. Miscellaneous
Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other referenced policies, constitute the entire agreement between you and ProgramU LLC.
Severability. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
No Waiver. Failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. ProgramU LLC may assign them to a successor entity (e.g., in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets) without notice.
Force Majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control (natural disasters, war, internet outages, third-party service failures, etc.).
App Store Terms. If you accessed Anchor through the Apple App Store, your iOS use is also subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and the App Store's Standard EULA. If through Google Play, your Android use is also subject to Google Play's Terms of Service. In-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their respective terms. These Terms are between you and ProgramU LLC, NOT Apple or Google; Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support and are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.

18. Companion AI Conversations
This section is Anchor's full disclosure of how companion conversations work. By starting a conversation, you acknowledge the following.
You are talking to an AI, not a human. Anchor's companion is an artificial intelligence. It is not a person, therapist, counselor, doctor, sponsor, or any qualified professional.
How live conversations are processed. Live voice conversations run on Inworld's realtime agent API: Inworld provides speech-to-text (to transcribe what you say), a fast large language model reached through Inworld's model router (to generate the reply), and text-to-speech (to speak it). Because Inworld operates a model router, if the primary model is unavailable, a comparable model may be automatically substituted — this routing is outside ProgramU's direct control. Your audio is processed in transit and is not stored by ProgramU LLC.
Background AI. Background jobs — conversation titles, weekly reflections, and a post-conversation safety review — run through the same Inworld model router, after the fact. No background job participates in the live voice loop. Pattern statistics in the app are computed by our own code from your logged data, not by an AI model.
Your numbers are computed, not generated. Streak and pattern numbers the companion speaks are computed by our servers from your own data, never generated by the AI model.
Transcripts are yours. Conversation transcripts are stored in your account and are deletable by you. Deleting a transcript removes it from your account.
Crisis routing. The companion is designed to recognize crisis signals and route you to real help: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call/text 988), Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741), SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-4357), and 911 for emergencies. If you describe withdrawal symptoms, the companion will tell you to contact a healthcare provider or 911 — withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids can be medically dangerous. These safety behaviors are designed in, but no automated system catches everything. If you are in crisis, do not rely on the companion — contact the resources above directly.
Not care. Anchor is not a substitute for professional medical care, therapy, or treatment. If you are experiencing a medical emergency or severe withdrawal symptoms, contact a healthcare provider immediately.
Age. You must be 18 or older to use companion conversations.
19. Acknowledgment
By using Anchor, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
Thank you for letting Anchor be part of your recovery journey.
